I Want to Thank Our Veterans

I want to say a huge thanks to all the British, Commonwealth and Allied veterans past and present. I know a lot of people here are American and mainly most of the thanks here go to there so I thought it would be nice to give people like my Grandad a shout out. A D-Day veteran who gave his best days to ensure freedom for others. Always a hero to me Grandpa

My grandad was at Gallipoli, Ypres, the Somme and just about every other bloodbath of WWI at the age of 23.
He apparently came back with all kinds of horrific memories and of course there was no support or anything in those days so they just turned to drink to medicate their PTSD. Oh well. Such is life.
Good on you for the shout out to the veterans from the Commonwealth too.

My Great Grandad was at The Somme too and finished in Burma. My Grandad fought all the way from the beaches into Germany in the 79th armored. They both had lots of stories both good and bad. Its a tough condition. A friend of mine's father fought in the Balkan Conflicts in the 1990s and has struggled ever since.

The Commonwealth are often very overlooked for their parts played be they in the skies on the seas or on the ground. My Grandad served with a lot of Canadians and Australians and spoke very highly. We may be separate now but we will always share a bond between our countries across the Commonwealth

I am a veteran but do not consider myself a hero, the real hero`s are the men and women that gave the ultimate sacrifice and the medics trying to save their lives. I am proud to say that I did help to save many American lives.

Yep, my family has been military for the last 6 generations and we have lost a lot of members in many conflicts. I served in the Navy for a few years on leaving high school
