Did I give the impression that I wasn't interested in him?

Last time we texted he said "I know it's too late" talking about the possibility of a relationship and i sent a message then unsent it. It's Bern a Month that we haven't texted. We live on opposite sides of the globe. I met him when I was travelling last year and slept with him the second time. We are friends on Facebook and have texted really sporadically since.

A month is way too long. Why didn't you text him back when he asked for some affirmation from you asking if it was " too late"?
And why did he think that it was too late?
Did you give him that impression or is he simply low confidence?
You can message him now if you are certain that he was interested and see what happens but at this point you kinda dropped the ball I think.
