Here is a sneak peek of my first book

'The Haunting of the Old Morristown College'

Did you see that?

It was a beautiful fall day, when Hank, Peter, Noah, and I got out of school. We met up at a small park just a little ways from the school grounds. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping their lively tunes, the squirrels were scurrying in the tree and a gentle autumn breeze blew.
We just stood there for a minute or two admiring all the bright colors of the leaves, and the smell of Fall filled our noses. The soothing sound of leaves rustling in the wind, and the water gently flowing in the creek was so relaxing. Occasionally there were strong gusts of wind which cause the seesaws to lift and fall gently back to the ground.
The swings even sway gently in the breeze. We didn’t want to stay too long, because it started to get chilly. We decided to head home to my house to do our homework. The sound of freshly fallen leaves crunched under our feet as we treked back. I looked up at the trees while I was walking and imagined that I was walking through a magical tunnel.
There was an old college just on up the road that most of it had burned down to the ground years ago. We had to walk by the old college, because we live near the run down building. Today wasn't any ordinary day, I got the wierdest feeling that we were being watched as we strolled by the burnt building.
While we were walking, I looked at the ruins and saw a mysterious movement. I witnessed a shadow move from inside the building. A spine tingling fear went up my body.
"What's wrong?" Hank said, sensing something was wrong.
"Nothing." I said, trying to brush it off.
Peter and Noah was in a deep conversation that they didn't noticed anything strange. We shrugged our shoulders and marched back home under the clear Autumn sky. Then it happened again.
"Did you see that?!" I was beginning to question my own insanity.
This time Peter and Noah stopped their conversation about baseball and looked at me like I belong in a nut house.
"What are you talking about?" Noah asked with a troubled look on his face.
"I saw a ghost or a person." I explained while questioning if I was losing my mind.
"There is no such thing as ghosts!!" Hank addressed.
"Oh, yeah! If you're not such a chicken, we'll spend the night tomorrow! I'll even bet you a hundred dollars that you won't stay all night in there!" I challenged him.
"You're on!" He accepted.
"Anyone else wants to join?" I was trying to encourage my brothers.
"Yeah!!" They shouted with eagerness.
"Ok. It's settled you'll meet us at our house and we'll get everything ready for us to spend the night over there. We'll get together around 6:30 in the evening." I explained.
"Do I need to bring anything with me?" Hank questioned me.
"No. Just yourself and a sleeping bag." I reassured him.
"What about snacks and drinks?" Peter requested.
"Let’s ask Mom what we can bring for our trip." I said.
"David, do you believe that the old college is really haunted?" Noah examined.
"Why do you think that, Nathan?" I required him.
"Because I think that it is just a legend and I don't believe any of the stories about the place." Noah challenged my knowledge.
"Noah, would you believe if I show you all the newspaper clippings that I saved about the old building?" I responded back.
"Maybe. But what does that prove?" He said, shrugging his shoulders.
I was speechless because I had no answer to that question. So now I doubt that it is actually haunted. "I don't know. It might change your mind." I finally managed to reply.
"Well I'm not going to let some story or stories get to my head yet." He complained.
"Ok. Whatever you say, Noah!!" Peter suggested.
"I'm serious Peter!" Noah argued.
"Knock it off you two!" I demanded for them to stop.
"David's right! We need to stop arguing. The more we argue the less time we have at enjoying tomorrow night." Noah addressed.
"You're right Noah." Peter confirmed.
"Where do you keep the articles?" Hank questioned.
"I'm not going to tell because it is in a concealed place in my room." I said keeping it a surprise.
"Aw, come on David!" They protested.
"Nope. Not a chance." I refuse to tell them.
"Why?" They snorted furiously.
"Because I don't want anyone to sneak in my room and try to destroy them while I'm sleeping." I responded with a little snarl in my voice.
"Wow, don't be so harsh about it." Hank babbled.
"I didn't mean to sound that way, but I'm very protective over my stuff and my room." I explained.
"I don't blame you. I would do the same thing as well." He acknowledged with me.
We were almost home when the night started to get the chilly effect. I began to shiver as the frosty air was nipping my bear arms and head. So I slipped on my nice warm, fuzzy jacket and knitted hat that I made.
The others proceeded to do the same as they started to freeze in the Autumn Arctic air. We were hoping that it would hold off until we got to my house. We were prepared because my mom warned us yesterday.
She must have heard us coming. She was waiting at the door holding a tray with four cups steaming Hot Chocolate with Whip cream on top. We got up to the porch the smell of delicious Hot Cocoa filled our noses and made us grin from ear to ear.
We each grab a cup and sat down in front of the roaring fire. The heat from the fire was so inviting that we took off our jackets and shoes. We just talked and drank while listening to the fire snapped, crackled, and popped.
The flames danced before us, as if they were alive. The flicking flames caused me to drift off into a deep relaxing state of mind.

Hope it sells well and you move onto your next, though it's not the type I'd typically go for.
@PhilDeep Thanks for the feedback!
