Honesty rather than deception
Even when it isn't what we may wish to hear. Is not honesty ,rather than deception a mark of mutual respect and truthful quality? I am not perfect by far. But I strive daily to always set this example.

I think honesty is wonderful and I share it as much as humanly possible. But if say a friend says, Don't you love this shirt?! And she seems happy or upbeat, and if I do not like it, I typically will white lie and say, Cool, yeah! ...I feel if I said, No not really, it would dampen her mood or make her feel bad. So the stark truth can be great , but in little things in like not hurting someone's feelings, I think it's ok if we just agree once in a while. (But I think we should also say occasionally our TRUE thought too..it's all a balance)
