I Want A Home By The Sea

Do you have a home by the sea? If so, how close to it? Have a home on another body of water? Being close to water feels embryonic and soothing to me. I long for a home close enough to the water to hear it, feel it, sense it.

I live on Blackwater bay that opens to Pensacola bay that opens to the gulf of Mexico that opens to the Atlantic. When strong storms pass nearby, the water rises up into the yard, and I have to rake up saw grass and seaweed when it recedes. It's great to sit out on the back deck and watch the dolphins and pelicans, and we have this huge blue bird that comes and hangs out on the dock from time to time. The thing is about 4 foot tall with long legs and a long bill. It's been coming around for ten years now.

Wow. Nice to be so close to the wildlife and the elements, but that makes for extra work when storms strike. Interesting that the same bird comes to hang around for so long. Did you give it a name?

Well, at first, I thought so too, but this guy is a dark blue without the markings on the head, but then again it could be a female and just not dress as flashy. It's interesting how it's the male with birds that has the more brilliant markings...
