I Wonder If You've Ever Noticed

How the homeless actually live quite the life. I’m sitting at my desk and across the street 2 homeless people greet, hug, compare stuff laugh, then go on their way. No time constraints, no worries about what day it is. Just the simple life..

Edited to add:
This was just a quick interaction on a beautiful day. It was friendly and sweet. By no means do I think their situation is ideal. It was a quick observation.. sorry if anyone is offended. 🙂
I volunteer at a shelter and see people who sleep in the beds, use the showers and go to actual jobs, some more than one. We have a housing crisis where people who work can't afford housing and don't qualify for public assistance. And those are the people who aren't mentally ill or drug addicted. I love the way some people assume folks want to be dirty and smelly and having to crap in doorways as a "lifestyle choice". Probably makes it easier to do things to them, like the young man who threw bleach in the face of an older homeless woman recently.

@bijouxbroussard You are so right about it just NOT being a lifestyle choice BB!!!😟That poor woman! There was a woman found burned under a bridge over here where many sleep. Many are just a paycheck away from being homeless, it could happen to any of us. 💔😢

I couldn't agree more. People try to avoid the ugly truth which is many people are homeless not because they chose to be, but because there isn’t enough help to go around.
Peaches · F
That's exactly right, GREED is the order of the day. I posted this the other day......https://similarworlds.com/5331208-I-Have-Random-Thoughts/1091708-Yes-give-these-empty-homes-to-the-homeless
Is it the simple life? To your eyes maybe, but if you look to what you cannot see, there lies the truth.

[c=#7700B2]The only people who think this, have never been.

Try it for just one weekend. 48 hours.
No money. No credit card. No food. No security.
Nothing. Just the clothes on your back.
Let's hope the weather is nice.

Luckily this area has great weather. As I stated before, this was a quick light and loving exchange I saw between 2 people with no time constraints or stress. It was just an observation. Have a wonderful day 🙂

I used to work at a homeless shelter and for 95% of them this is a lifestyle choice. People that don't want to be in a shelter get on there feet rather quickly and don't ever come back
SW-User
That’s good to know. It could happen to any one of us.
Peaches · F
@Dayeshadow Right! It's mostly because they can't do drugs or drink there, so they don't go back.

Sad situation they live
Peaches · F
Yes, but I just know inside their heart is breaking.💔They probably need each other even more than ever, glad you saw them smiling.🍀

I'd not swop their life, very difficult times.

Reminds me of that old JP song ...

I think many have moved from by the rusty railroad tracks to beneath the freeway and Interstate overpasses.

They sill travel light, with everything in that "life's eternal traveling sack".

@Heartlander very nice song thank you for sharing.

No home to go to, people abusing you all day, spitting on you, bashing you. Never able to stay in one place for any length of time, no ability to sustain friendships - sounds great!

I only saw this quick exchange, it was light and kind. These are people I have seen in this area for the past 2 years. So, I’m grateful for what I have, but they seem to be content. It was just an observation. Have a wonderful day 😊
Zeusdelight · 61-69, M
Yes, I may have been a little over the top there. From your reply, it would seem a message for others than you. (I mean this in a positive way, just in case you see it as negative)

Thanks for your response.

You too have a wonderful day!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
If it was really their choice and they enjoyed that life without affecting others, I'd agree. But, they are there because they have no other place to go.
SW-User
@samueltyler2 yes that’s true, this particular day was beautiful and it was a quick interaction. I’m sure its not ideal 😊
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
It is enviable at times I suppose. Still they do have worries. Like when their next meal is and if they will ever love again... 👍🏻

Thought-provoking post. Thank you.
Calmsoul · 31-35, M
That's beautiful to observe but still difficulties are there ..
Calmsoul · 31-35, M
@SW-User i guess you have posted a pic with your post which i cant see ... But can definitely feel your worda
SW-User
No pic, I’m just saying that when I saw them they seemed very free.
Calmsoul · 31-35, M
@SW-User well i think then the way you you described it is very lively :)
luvin2flirt · 61-69, M
It's okay I guess until it gets really cold... I can't stand the thoughts of someone freezing...
SW-User
@luvin2flirt Yes, I agree. I would not want to try it either.
clamenza · 56-60, M
Wouldn't want to be there.. but they have accepted who they are and are content with it.
Autumn321 · 51-55, M
They have no worries as they don't have anything nothing to loose
Gemineye · 56-60, M

Barebum61 · 61-69, M
