I Am Intelligent Yet Still An Idiot

People keep saying that i'm intelligent, but i'm always pretty sure that i'm close to being the dumbest person on the planet. My college grades don't prove intelligence at all. They prove I can remember what I hear and read. What's so intelligent about doing that? I appreciate the compliment, but it's difficult to agree with it. I maintain a 4.0 GPA because of focus and determination. I don't watch tv or play games while a college semester is in progress. If I have a spare moment I will read or study the college material or sleep so that I am rested enough to read or study. While in the midst of a college semester, my idea of fun is practicing what I've learned. I am always thinking of how I can do better. An A is the highest grade, but that doesn't stop me from thinking about how to do better. If I have an A, then I have helped some less fortunate students get an A as well and that was the purpose of my weekly study group as well as volunteering to meet individually with struggling students. In the midst of doing better by helping others, I was guaranteed the position of tutor if I was to put in an application. So when I found my next few minutes of spare time I applied. I actually had a tutor of my own, but I was sort of tutoring my tutor. I only needed a tutor to translate the expectations of an instructor who didn't bother to follow a syllabus. I found out that it wasn't just me, everyone struggles to understand his expectactions. I had always carefully read through a syllabus and made a study plan for every class. I had ranked every class in order from most to least difficult so that I could focus on the more difficult classes. But the lack of a syllabus had made me panic. After many different classes with the disorganized instructor I can now help others to understand his classes. I hope to be intelligent one day.

I'm such an idiot that I tutor material that I am unfamiliar with, because somehow I am able to figure out almost anything. I think that it's stupid to tutor subjects I have never taken in my life and know nothing about. I knew nothing about Javascript and so it took me 3 days to figure it out. The same thing happened 6 months ago with CSS, but it had taken me 2 weeks to get the hang of THAT. It's just that I've taken many programming couses and it didn't resemble a language the way that Javascript does.

I might disagree to an extent..I think you have to be somewhat intelligent to understand your own ignorance ... Sort of a reverse dunning Kreuger

@shimmeringrose sounds to me like you're doing ok... Just enjoy yourself and try not to sweat the small things ..I have my own sneaking suspicions that life is a bit of a cosmic joke... ;)

You’re very astute, most people seem to think you’re intelligent, just because you can remember things
