I Am Open to New Ideas and Experiences
Just been thinking; addictions aren't really a problem if no one is suffering. If no one is being affected by it, is it really a problem?
I have a friend who drinks a lot, as in everyday. However, he doesn't have any qualms about it. It doesn't have any negative impacts to his relationships with other, and doesn't affect his professional life. I tease him and call him an alcoholic, but that's just something between him and I. He also is a pleasant person to be around when he's intoxicated.
Addiction is classified as a psychological disorder. However, the basis of what a disorder is; it has to cause the afflicted person some sort of distress.
So, if he isn't bothered by his dependency, is it even an addiction, or disorder? Is it even a problem? This can be applied to other forms of addiction... just a random thought I had 🤷🏽♀️
