I Feel Overwhelmed

I am single, running my own home and I never seem to be done. Every single weekend , i have a list of chores to get done. And of course, I never get done. One chore begets another so I decided to take a week off and try to get ahead of the game.

Do you ever feel that way?

I am retired and I cannot get ahead of the game. I believe that we find things to "improve" whenever we start to get caught up. It has often been said that nature abhors a vacuum and thus we find ways to fill our days. The best we can do is to prioritize the time for ourselves. Taking the time to visit friends, to travel, to nuture our souls.

@jim44444: jim, i have a hard time relaxing when stuff needs to be done. it makes me feel guilty. the only way i can totally relax stress free is when i travel.

A royal pain ..... but compare it to issues with apartment living: the lack of personal outdoor space, the lack of choices on everything from kitchen appliances to wall colors. If you live in a house and don't like your neighbors you can build a high fence. No such option with an apartment.

This sounds like a good time to do something nice for yourself and ignore what's not right. If it's a leaky faucet just shut off the feed line to that faucet. Stove broke? Call in Pizza or pick up Chinese.

@Heartlander: LOL. i did that. took myself out to a big breakfast!

Join the club. A heavy mug fell from a top cabinet and cracked the ceramic cooktop on the range :( After buying a new ceramic top and disassembling the stove I discovered the damage beneath and a need now for a new burner :( The cost of the new burner atop the cost already paid for the new ceramic top suddenly makes it a bad decision to have tried to fix it at all. I should have just junked the whole range and purchased a new one. In the good news department, my failed DIY attempt was still less costly than it would have been had I called a repairman who probably also would have delivered sequential bad news. In the meantime, the deli at the local supermarket is wonderful and now I can put off thinking about the stove for a week,

Sure. I find it helpful to prioritize. Sometimes, it's also perfectly fine to throw your hands up in the air do nothing...
