Hey !! Those are very important. We always let something slip through the cracks. It could be a comment from a stranger on the street, or a spoilt child in distress, or even much larger things like this. But it is my belief that it's these exact moments that help us realize our humanity. If we cant feel pain or compassion or heartbreak, how would we ever know we had feelings to hurt, a heart that can break, etc. What would make us any different to a criminal/terrorist? As a matter of fact, that IS the strength I was referring to in your statement. The fact that you know you have feelings and that they have been hurt, are capable of and willing to admit it publically.
