I Have a Question

someone ive known for yrs gave me this email for this grant board, so i emailed them to check it out. when they asked for my info they asked me for my password and user name for facebook, i told them i didnt feel comfortable giving that out. then they sent me a list of grants and how much it would cost, it wasnt free like grants are supposed to be and theyre not cheap either, i told him i couldnt afford them, he said to go to my bank and take out a loan to give to them and when i get the grant i could use part of it to pay the bank back, i told them to forget the grants right now, im not doing all that, this all sounds fishy to me, are they trying to scam me?

Well the first tip it's a scam why would you pay to get a grant? it's unheard of pay someone to get a grant and even pay the grant issurer. And why did your so called friend need to know your personal Info? Maybe to fill things out in your name and a few months down the road the bank send a notice of loan payment passed due, I would change your passwords and put passwords on your accounts any accounts you may have that way if people call pretending to be you and the person they called asked for your password will they would not know that. Maybe check with the credit office to see if you have asked for any credit or loans that you are unaware of.

never  give  out  any  personal  data … even  if  a  'friend'  tells  you  to  do  so.  there  are  no  exceptions.

i  will  offer  one  scenario … you  get  email  from  your  sibling/parent … it  tells  you  similar  thing … fyi,  they  did  not  send  it.  and   do  not  tell  me  the  name  of  the  'grant' … because  it  is  a  scam … just  never  ever  trust.

if  they  say  they  are  from  the  irs  or  your  bank  or  your  mother  or  your  employer  or  wtf … no  matter  how  legitimate  it  seems … it  is  a  scam.  even  if  it  has  a  logo  from  the  irs  or  from  your  bank  or  from  the  ssa … they  are  scams.  even  if  the  email  states  you  are  in  big  trouble … move  the  message  to  a  folder  labeled  "scammers"  and  forget  it.

seriously.

Yes you are right it's a scam never ever give out personal info and never ever give access to your accounts anywhere because the next thing you know banks will be coming after you. Grants have to be paid back it buries that do not have to be paid back. I think it's like that.
