I Lost Myself Somewhere Along the Way

I've done some real soul searching and have come to find that I have taken care of everyone else on the planet except for myself. I now am finding I am lost and not knowing how to find myself again. I have never thought of myself as being naive by any stretch, but there is a first for everything. Care as I may and do the best by others as I have always done, it is always a slap to the face when someone tosses you to the side as though all of your friendship counted for nothing....further, that you no longer exist. I certainly did not see that coming.
So here I sit playing the victim....no more I tell you. I will not be the person who is not respected just because I care too much. Many say it is a weakness, but to me it is the greatest strength one can have...compassion for others and concern...except for now, I must give to myself my own compassion and concern before I will be classified an unsolved case of the missing person who never found herself and knew where she belonged.
