I Hate Politics

I follow it, but I hate it. I don't really care who's right and who's wrong, as much as I care for how we treat one another for our differing views. It's ok to disagree, but it's not ok to be divided.

I care who’s right and who’s wrong. Because in this particular case, there is right and wrong here, even if some people have lost sight of it. This president is a racist, he’s been proving it both as a private citizen and in the White House. And the people who still support him, support that. And I have no desire to unify with that.
@bijouxbroussard I can understand that, but unity doesn't mean needing to agree with an opposing side's ideals. It only means to recognize our different perspectives, but still listen to each other. Whether you are right and who's wrong, doesn't matter.

I mean, look at Trump. You dislike him and believed he is wrong on so many issues. And yet, it doesn't matter. He's the most powerful individual in this country and he was chosen by us. And the same could be said about Obama with a republican. This is what caring about who is right and who is wrong has got us. But very few people actually try to unify with those they heavily disagree with, even though it can have monumental results. Daryl Davis is a black musician who was able to befriend over 200 KKK members to leave the KKK. A black man did that. If a black man can single-handedly persuade KKK members to leave their organization, I think any person is capable of persuading others we heavily disagree with. But there needs to be some form of unity for that to happen. Because without the conversation, there can't be unity :/
@LookingForSomethingNew Will you explain to me why people only seem to admire blacks who make nice with their enemies, not the ones who stand up ?
I ask that sincerely. When I was a kid, my white classmates said, “Your hero is Martin Luther King, Jr.” I agreed with that, but then who were their heroes ?
John Wayne, Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood—“tough guys”. Not fellows who practiced “non-violence”. I always found that interesting.
So if you ever hear about an American who turns ISIS recruits around, or even feels compelled to try, let me know. 😉
@bijouxbroussard I would definitely be compelled to try if I had the training and resources to. And I would assume Daryl Davis would think similarly, as his actions reflect exactly that.

But to be honest, I don't think I completely understand the point you are trying to make, so I apologize. I don't really see what people's heroes have to do with this topic. Can you elaborate?
@LookingForSomethingNew Some people have made Donald Trump their hero. They see his rudeness as “blunt”. They see his insults and pettiness as “directness”. And they saw Obama’s ability to engage others and build bridges as “weakness”. What people see as “heroic” is different when it’s a black person.
I guess I’m not that surprised you don’t understand. That’s part of the division; we’re not really speaking the same language,
@bijouxbroussard No, I understand that section now. Thank you for elaborating. Yes, I agree, a lot of people did see Trump and Obama in that light. So may I ask, do you believe that to be irrational of them to think that way? If so, then why do you think that?
@LookingForSomethingNew Are you a bot ? 🤖
@bijouxbroussard I'm just interested in hearing and understanding your perspective is all 😥 Why is that weird? lol.
@LookingForSomethingNew I thought I’d been fairly explicit about it.
@bijouxbroussard That's fair lol. I know it's a weird question, but may I ask where you think I stand on all of this, although you may not entirely care? haha.
@LookingForSomethingNew Honestly, I don’t know, although it’s obvious to me that you’re trying to appear neutral and objective.
@bijouxbroussard That's good to hear because I am trying to appear neutral. But ofc, I have a side, as we all do. And I generally agree with absolutely everything that you've said, but I believe for different reasons. That's why I'm curious to learn more about your perspective :P
