I Go Back and Read Old Journal Entries

Hilarious. I found and old journal entry from when I first went to college:

"
Food on Campus
Years before I got to college all I heard about was the freshmen-
fifteen, which states that most people are guaranteed to gain at least fifteen pounds when they enter college. With that being said, I was
– and still am – determined to be an exception to that stereo-type, but it’s been harder than I thought it would be.

After the first few days was living on campus – after all the free food from orientation ended that is – I started to notice that I was eating at the same places everyday, none of the food I was eating was healthy, and it was all restaurant food (burgers, fries, pizza, fried chicken strips, Buffalo wings, and lots and lots of pop – or, as people here say it, soda). Also I was eating three meals a day, but I wasn’t used to that. It doesn’t take much at all to fill me up. I used to only eat breakfast and dinner with snacks in - between. I didn’t know how to not over eat while also not wasting my meal plans, and it took me a while to find healthy food on campus.

Now, six weeks in, I’m finally starting to get the hang of things. I’m still eating at the same places everyday, but I’m learning what and what not to order. I’ve learned where to find my favorite foods (fruit and yogurt) for breakfast and I’ve learned that for lunch I can use a meal plan but only get a few snacks instead of a whole meal that’s sufficient for the rest of the day. Or I can get a whole fulfilling meal for lunch but for dinner just use a meal plan on a smoothie at Freshens. Or I can go to Marlettos, where I can have more control over how much food I get. With these new strategies, I can be sure that I don’t over eat, while still not wasting money.

😂 I gained that and then some. And kept gaining all through college. I've made peace with it.

Kind of hard to burn calories in a class. You need to work out some thru the week

@smileylovesgaming While I was in college I started using the gym on campus, but I wasn't consistent. It was a small gym with mostly guys from the basketball team in it and I felt shy working out in front of them 🤦‍♀️ One thing that helped was that I loved to walk and I walked everywhere.
