Have you ever felt this?

Have you ever felt shame to belong to a group/race of people despite doing the right thing?

I feel this right now, the feeling of shame even when I've never done something like this before. It's not new and I'm aware of how Indians scam people all over the world through their call centres. I'm sorry to say but I hope these dip***** can go f*** themselves for scamming people of their hard earned money.

It saddens me to accept the fact that I'm an Indian and I've always preferred to not share my nationality to avoid being judged. It does make us all seem bad even when there's a couple of us who aren't out there to scam people.

It saddens me when simple people believe that any one individual can be defined by an entire society. You should have no shame for anything you do not directly control. Be good...and intelligent people will see this. Don't let idiots bring you down their simple racist rabbit hole.

@okaybut Thank you for this.

I feel shame for the human race because of the suffering and misery we cause to animals and our planet.

@Zombee True.

We'll be the masters of our own destruction.

Yes. When my mom first came to the U.S., she got scammed at a job. A customer ripped her off and she had to pay the loss back from her check. She said she cried and that she’d never trust Americans again. That hurt to hear. I did feel ashamed for a bit even though I didn’t do that to anyone.
But no one should feel guilt for what they didn’t do just like no one can feel pride for what they didn’t accomplish.

@SW-User I don't rip people off but have been a victim at times.

The thing is I don't care but it does prick me to be judged by people for belonging to the race. I have met a majority of people who just say "NO" because of my race. I don't say anything anymore. Agreed there's good and bad in every race but it's like a prejudgement painted on every face with the same brush.

As an Indian, I just make fun of other Indians (especially the creeps and bigots 🤣) but never feel diminished by India itself. It does make us seem bad (I've had people block me here before interacting) but once you have a proper interaction, nationality ceases to appear as a major part of who you Re.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@MasterofNone I understand the perspective but I tend to keep my nationality under the table for a conversation as it's a buzz kill.
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@Beatbox34 okay but you can see I've put it in my profile. I used to hide it too. It gives advantage, I agree. But you'll always have it inside your head that you're indian. When you meet them IRL you'd feel great levels of inferiority complex. So it's better to wear the "Indian tag" like a badge and relate yourself with those Indians who you think are great and not the most of them who are crap.

I've had issues with my identity since forever but shame doesn't follow me anymore. Just confusion. I'm not ashamed by any means. People who make you feel ashamed however kinda do the hard work for you. Making it easier to filter out the ones that don't add nothing of value to your life.

I’m Indian too and while I never identified with the orthodox culture if someone judges me by it, that’s their problem as I knew it right from my childhood that my gender and nationality doesn’t define me
