Oh I agree...I get so tired of hearing that...especially from the younger kids....
And also another phrase..... I'll be perfectly honest with you !!!!!

@jackjjackson when they say that, it insinuates that they've been lying up to that point.
It makes them seem like what they're telling you is just a bunch of words and maybe not really the truth...so when the story is getting more truthful, then they have to say that.... whatever....
Disagree. Lie comes right after claim of honesty. @Midlifemale
