I Love My Dad
Fathers Day 2014
For Father's Day this past Sunday, I went to see him after I finished up at church. My parents are more fun to hang out with as I get older. My kids planned something with ex so I was on my own for the day. It's difficult to pick out a gift for him but he's helped me figure out how to do things around the house and has been a big help in little fix it up projects around my place. I've had to figure out how to keep my lawn trimmed. He still does his own lawn but it really takes all his energy. I'm in decent shape and do my own but I really hate it. I thought he could likely use a hat to keep from burning the top of his head and ears while he mows. I found one that would look nice on him and I just picked him up a new pair of gloves. I don't do any yard work without gloves and you can go through them kinda fast. I also took over the traditional beer, peanuts and beef jerky. My brother was there too and the two of them went through the peanuts like they've never eaten before.
The really cute thing was how my dad reacted to his presents. He put on the hat and and really made a big deal out of it. His hearing isn't what it used to be and he said he could actually hear a little bit better with it on. He kept it on for awhile as we watched tv. Then later I saw him put on the gloves and say how he really could use a new pair of work gloves. It was so fun to see him make a big deal out of such simple things. Mostly I just wanted to spend some time with him. It was a nice afternoon.
