I Battle Depression

New stressors have made recovery quite challenging. I’m constantly trying to remember the coping techniques that I’ve learned, but there are times I get swept away by the flood of negative emotions.

Bright side is, I’ve not had suicidal thoughts through it all.

When I get swept away by stress and anxiety.. especially when self destructive thoughts try to come back.. I drill 5 to 15 minutes into my super busy agenda.. make a cup of tea/coffee and drink it alone, in peace. Sometimes with a tiny piece of black chocolate. Something about warmth and the stronger aroma of cocoa comforts me.. a hug in a cup. If I have possibility to draw/color/read/write do anything creative with my hands (even tidying my desk), I use it to de-stress. If I can get some fresh air and some sun on my skin, it also helps me relax. Emotions are okay, even sad ones.. I figured just giving myself a few minutes to just calm down helps me think better and my mood eventually climbs back up the stairs, especially when my meditative pause ends with a decision, be it big or small.. having some goal-oriented step forward makes the negative emotions bearable.. easier to slide over..like a storm, they come and go in waves.. just remember this is just a wave.. YOU are the ocean, and by default, stronger:)

When negative thoughts come up, say "delete that" and replace with a positive one.
