I Got The Cane Or Slipper In The Sixth Form

One of my wife's friends told us about an incident when she was in 6th form.

Some of them had started visiting a local pub on Friday lunchtimes and the school wasn't very happy about it. The headmaster made an announcement in assembly that several boys had been seen there. They had been warned not to go there again but, in future, anyone caught doing so would be caned.

A couple of weeks later my wife's friend a a couple of other girls were caught. They tried claiming they thought the rule only applied to boys! It didn't work, they all got six of the best. :)

Visiting a pub (or drinking alcohol on school premises) would have resulted in a caning at my school as well
@Rebecca54 My girlfriend of the time and I were caned for sharing a can of beer at school when we were in 6th form.

@Rebecca54 think it would have done for most of our age

@barney1 Some friends and I were all caned in 6th form for for going to the pub at lunchtime.

Yes we was as well, 6 strokes later I didn't feel so grown up
Sharon · F
@barney1 We all got 6 strokes too. It wasn't the first, nor last, time for any of us.
barney1 · M
Yes but when we went we knew the risk but didn't think we would be caught!!
Sharon · F
@barney1 Exactly the same here. We all knew the risk.
barney1 · M
Even went to pubs further away from the school to avoid detection,
Sharon · F
@barney1 Good plan. We went to pubs a reasonable distance away that we didn't think teachers would use but it didn't always work.
barney1 · M
And we couldn't finish our drinks either lol, mind u a couple of times I slipped out the back door as a teacher came in lol , that's the sneaky bit lol
Sharon · F
@barney1 I was lucky in that respect, I never had to leave a drink. :)
barney1 · M
Better to leave it than be caught and caned in my eyes!!
Sharon · F
@barney1 True. I'd have left it if doing so meant I wouldn't be caught.
barney1 · M
Fridays seemed to be the day they checked most, guess they wanted a few themselves lol
Sharon · F
Yes, they probably thought there was more chance of students being there then too.
barney1 · M
Was u caned same day or next day
Sharon · F
@barney1 Same day in 5th form. First time in 6th we were given until the next day to decide whether to be caned or suspended. We all chose the cane.
Rebecca54 · 70-79, F
@Sharon Not sure what I would have chosen in those circumstances. I always chose the slipper over detention but 6 strokes of the cane was in a different league. Luckily the circumstances did not arise.
Sharon · F
@Rebecca54 None of us were strangers to the cane and suspension would have been a very serious matter. I think we would all have been caned by our parents if we had chosen suspension and probably at least a dozen on the bare. That really made the choice quite simple.
barney1 · M
@Sharon did your parents use the cane as well
Sharon · F
@barney1 Yes but not very often. I usually got the slipper.
PeterTheTherapist · 61-69, M
@Sharon At least some choices in life are easy...😉
barney1 · M
@Sharon think the slipper was much more for girls at home
Sharon · F
@barney1 The boys I knew got it at home just as much as girls. There wasn't much sex discrimination where I grew up.
