I Think Some People Take Themselves Way Too Seriously

Seriously is there anyone here who can let life be as it is without the help of drugs?

Sure there are. Just like I'm sure there are people who let life be without overeating or drinking alcohol. There's lots of paths up the mountain.
But just to toss it out there, self-medicating with substances to alter reality has been going on for as long as mankind has existed. It also exists in the animal world. I personally believe we're hardwired for it but social constructs limit the use.

@Justpeaceandlove: Guess that depends on where you live and what constitutes a drug. A tribe in the African jungle? Yep. Definitely the norm. The U.S.? Yep. Saudi Arabia? Nope.

@Justpeaceandlove: Drugs are consumed everywhere. But if you get caught there with drugs, or even drinking alcohol, the penalties can range from lashes with a whip to execution. I had an expat friend who was there for a while. He said it's no joke.
