How awkward is it for a job post to ask YOU to include YOUR salary requirement for the job?

Heading over to google, don't know how to put this in a cover letter.

they want to see how low you'll go, i.e. how desparate you are. I consider it a bad sign usually, that this is an employer who doesnt give a shit about their employees.
