Why does my dog like to eat leaves and stones?

He keeps making himself sick, he won't eat his food at the moment but will go outside and hop in the flower bed and find a stone or lump of muck.. Every month this happens

Stomach upset.
Dogs often chew grass or swallow stones if they feel unwell.

Good clue for the owner to make an appointment with the Vet.

I had a cat who used to eat mud when she wasn't feeling well, also chewed on rocks when she had teeth problems (probably trying to get rid of the bad tooth)

maybe take your dog to the vet for a check-up
