I Hate Corrupt Police

I support GOOD police. DO YOU YOU AGREE IT IS TIME TO DISCUSS PRACTICAL AND REAL METHODS OF PROTECTING OUR CITIZENS IF CITIES DECIDE TO DEFUND THEIR POLICE DEPARTMENTS? (Just to be really honest, I don't think it is possible).

There is a bill in the House of Representatives RIGHT NOW that will cause candidates for the police department to RUN away from that career choice. Police would be personally liable for their own actions, and they would become vulnerable to personal lawsuits.

I have some questions for the Minneapolis city council, and for the Los Angeles mayor who are actually planning to defund the police. (And AOC is supporting this...and so is Antifa).

1. Have you read the complete history of the defunding of the police in large cities that took place in the 1970's? Crime soared, and deaths of law abiding citizens soared.

2. If a little child has gone missing, who will look for the child? Will the so called "Neighborhood militias" have a clue how to be detectives?

3. If a man is beating up his wife and she is screaming, who will stop him and how will he be restrained and/or jailed?

4. If a person is out on the street, crazy with mental issues and drugs and they have a gun, who will stop them from shooting innocent bystanders?

5. If a drug gang or crime gang decides to take over the city and they are hanging snitches from the bridges, who is going to deal with that?

That's what I am wondering.

Discuss.

See - these are the real life questions to be asked...not holding up a stupid sign or screaming some "slogan" that changes nothing...IT CHANGES NOTHING - you need real world / real life dialogue (what you've posted). Look what happend in Atlanta - is that what people want? Armed guys taking the law in their own hands? Better training, better integration into "the community" is needed for sure...but to dismantle it?....that's absurd. Great post!

@luctoretemergo Thank you! Black lives matter wants to defund the police and put that money toward social programs...and it isn't always clear what those are. I worry that there isn't a plan.

"Revolution" by the Beatles

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world

But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know
We're all doing what we can

But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright, al...

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You'd better free your mind instead

But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow

Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright

Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright

@4meAndyou See but who will track the money? How do we know it wont' get in someone's pocket? That's what bugs me. In my city they bought laptops for kids---1000's of them!---yet they say at least (AT LEAST) 40% of students they "lost track of"....government by nature is inefficient...we threw out trillions of dollars for CV19...now this...the answer for people is to always throw money at it....that doesnt work. Personally, I believe it's taking responsibility, good parenting, lifestyle changes, etc....fix yourself first then get out there and fix the rest of the world. As the commercial says: I believe in people!....too much coffee for me sorry.

@luctoretemergo I thought about the money, also...and IMO the local drug cartels will pocket it. This is just another way to funnel money into the wrong pockets. BUT if there were a plan, and very strict accounting, SOME of this might be do-able.

Sorry...getting a visual migraine...bad one. Back later.

In the case of Chicago and New York,
turn the lights off and hand the keys to street gangs on your way out.
4meAndyou · F
@Budwick I believe they already tried this defunding thing in Chicago in the 70's. Crime soared and about 3000 people died.

@4meAndyou I've never heard anything so ridiculous.
Of course, what they're NOT saying is that part of defunding will be introducing federal police - to ensure maximum control.

A society must have structure and order. Without it, it will be chaos the likes of which we have never seen. Worse than some third world countries where nearly anything goes, and crime and fear is rampant. Defunding/disbanding the police is ludicrous and the worst case of DEvolving the world has seen.
marvn5694 · 46-50, M
We will be like some 3rd world countries where the police are so weakened that the bad groups do whatever they want. They can go into your homes throw you out, steal you things, extort money, etc...and no one to stop them.

@4meAndyou Ive been down there and it is all true. I always come back to the US with a greater appreciation for how this country really is. Some people that flap their mouth about stupid things have never felt anything like that first hand.
4meAndyou · F
@marvn5694 I just saw the Minneapolis city council member who was on television earlier today overriding the decision of the mayor NOT to defund the police. She was in an interview on CNN, and when the news person asked her what people would do if their home was being broken into in the middle of the night and they wanted to call 911?

This IDIOT said that the woman who wanted to call 911 was coming from a place of PRIVILEGE. I'm serious. She really said that.

@4meAndyou So stupid
curiosi · 61-69, F
They are out of their minds!!

On Monday Council President Lisa Bender joined Alisyn Camerota on CNN to discuss the plan.

When asked about who people will call if their home is broken into, who to call, Lisa Bender said this:

Lisa Bender: “Yes, I mean, and I hear that loud and clear from several of my neighbors, and I know, and myself too, and I know that comes from a place of privilege.”
4meAndyou · F
@curiosi When the squirrels came looking for their breakfast, they dropped her like a hot chestnut....because some nuts are just rotten to the core...and Lisa Bender is completely rotten. She isn't JUST an idiot. She's corrupt...like AOC.
almondflour · 46-50, F
I agree. Without order, there is chaos. Just as simple as that.

Open carry. Is the only answer now.
