Being gluten free sucks when you live in a developing country

Nobody gives a shit. There is no gluten -free option on menus. EVERYTHING has gluten. Ppl act like it's sth you do for show-off and they think being gluten free and being vegan/vegetarian is basically the same thing. There is just two company that produce gluten-free stuff and one of them sucks, and for using the other you should be approved on a list that you have celiac. You know how many ppl are on that list where I live? 50! Only 50 ppl on that list in this city, and I live in a metropolis! Yeah, ofc you can find gluten-free products imported from other countries, but they are too expensive to live on them.
Fuck!

eat rice instead. millions of healthy asian people living on rice instead of bread or bread and pasta
WonderfulOne · 22-25, F
@Penny yeah, I basically live on rice now. But I mean, there are a lot of things that contains gluten. Heck, I have to pack my meal every day and that's annoying. If I crave sth while I'm out, I have to wait till I go home so I can make it for myself.🤦🏻‍♀️

@WonderfulOne yeah its hard to eat out when you are gluten free. does your country have instant rice? (its also called converted rice) its nice when you dont feel like cooking and dont want to wait and as a bonus all the nutrients from the bran is cooked into the rice so its actually more nutritious than regualar white rice. a tip i learned from Bobby Flay.

@Penny yeah we actually consume lots of rice, so you can find all kind of packed meals in supermarkets or even buy freshly cooked rice from restaurants in a package for one. There are also clasic food options (like national dishes) that served with rice. I meant more fastfood-wise.

@Penny instant rice lacks flavor and it costs more.
Penny · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti but it cooks in five minutes lol and i add the flavor

@Penny yeah but if you’ve ever had basmati rice or jasmine rice you won’t like instant rice at all, the texture is way off too.
Penny · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti i like both. the key to making instant rice taste good is leaving it very moist like kind of wet in a flavorful broth. my last batch of rice i made was with black beans, yellow peppers, spring onions and yellow onions with curry paste, salty mushroom powder and thai volcano peppers. it came out awesome. ( i like spicy though)

@Penny why would I spend more money on instant rice with no flavor than to buy really quality rice packed full of flavor? Not happening.
Penny · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti cause it cooks in five minutes and is more nutritious?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Penny I don’t care if it takes 15 minutes to cook, I have a rice cooker. It’s not like I have to have instant gratification.
Penny · 46-50, F
@cherokeepatti well, whatever lol its not the same, its something different for me. the way i cook it it tastes good. its worth teh extra buck a box or so for the convenience factor on occasion. it makes cooking those kinds of dishes easy. i use my rice cooker for plain rice or sushi rice.
