Have you ever bumped into them on the street?

Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses, Hare Krishna, Scientology...?

They are essentially trying to take some little appreciated ideas expounded from a "seer" of some kind and they want to tell everyone about it!

I don't know which is worst encountered?

Cults of all kinds thrive on having some SECRET "THE truth" which no one else has; cults claiming to be based upon Christianity are notorious for this, even though the plain message in the Gospels is pretty simple and not at all hidden.

I had Hare Krishna at an airport long ago; their come-on was "do you want this free book?" and I said sure, I like to understand what people claim as their beliefs. Then they suddenly wanted a donation. They kept their book and I was unimpressed. LOL

I lived near a "Kingdom Hall" for the Jehovah's Witnesses, so they came around a bit. They were turned away by my parents or we didn't answer the door, and finally said to stop. I would have liked to have asked how they could remain in that cult, since the "Watchtower Society" which runs the "denomination" had already made firm statements naming the date of the end of the world once or twice in my own lifetime... LOL

Mormons I have had come by. Someone I knew a long time ago invited them in and engaged them in conversation; it lasted a while and the Mormons finally left, but left behind their bag of info, including how to approach Christians, what to say, etc. (Mormonism, Islam, and B'hai are all claimants to be the next step beyond Christianity.) I would briefly engage Mormons, but not waste much time; they have come by my home a few times, but I was busy and got rid of them.

The Scientologists I have not encountered here, but I am in the Midwest. I hope that the Government finds them to NOT be a religion (they were granted this status only because of how their members hounded the IRS...deluging the person(s) making the determination). The Scientologists are very stalky and essentially like their own Gestapo. And their most deeply held "Scripture", which most never get to, is a story about ancient aliens created by a science fiction writer...lol.

Yeah, I don't have much patience for this sort of thing.
