How do you react when someone hurts you badly?

I just have an overwhelming urge to hurt them back. It’s a terrible part of me and one that I try to fight every time but it doesn’t always work out.

I grow cold, silent and curt when I have to talk to them. Unless I can distance myself, if I can I do it immediately and without explanation.

@SW-User Yes. If I lash out back I'm probably not that hurt, just riled up. When I get hurt badly I can't respond, I just shut off and try my best to crawl away with dignity without tears.
