How do you react when someone hurts you badly?

I just have an overwhelming urge to hurt them back. It’s a terrible part of me and one that I try to fight every time but it doesn’t always work out.

When I was younger, I would plan delicious scenarios of revenge. Now, I have seen so much pain that I cannot do the same to another. But that doesn't mean that I'll allow that to happen again, if I can help it.
