Memo reveals interplay between Clinton Foundation, personal business
TheHill.com

Last week, WikiLeaks dropped a 2011 memo by top Bill Clinton aide Doug Band that lays bare Team Clinton’s sordid financial dealings when Hillary Clinton was secretary of State.

Band describes how the Clinton Foundation served as a conduit for what he called “Bill Clinton Inc.” — the former president’s for-profit arm. Other documents show State Department involvement.

The result is an unsavory mix of charity work, profiteering, and pay-to-play politics that potentially reaches the highest levels of US foreign policy and screams for IRS and Department of Justice reviews.

At center is Band and his consulting firm Teneo. Band served as gatekeeper to all things Bill Clinton. Those wanting a former president as golf partner ponied up. Requests for Foundation dough followed. Next came Clinton Inc. — the steady stream of speeches, books, and honorary titles that enriched Bill Clinton. Teneo managed it all.

Huge corporations and others seeking Clinton’s orbit lined up. Teneo’s clients included major U.S. corporations Coca-Cola and Dow Chemical, which donated huge sums.

Foreign firms like UBS donated and greased Clinton Inc.

For-profit Laureate International Universities went further, buying Clinton “advice” and rights to his prestige for $3.5 million annually. In all, Band states Teneo’s management yielded the former president $50 million — including a $2 million upfront slice of Band’s firm — with another $66 million queued. Band also facilitated political activity including securing campaign donors and managing Clinton’s political schedule.

Before daughter Chelsea Clinton intervened and ordered a compliance review, no one separated charity from profit-making time. Blurred lines were most blatant at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) — the annual confab where the world’s elite fete the former president and discuss world events.

Or, for an impartial review of the memo, as in not attempting to cherry pick out of context: http://politi.co/2dYEWs1

it is word for word from the Hill. A very respectable news outlet. Even you can't complain about that.

Which BTW, Are you still going to defend Hillary's actions?
At what point do you say..."Enough is enough. Hillary is a crook?"
Northwest · M
@lov2smile: Yes, I know. You don't know how to come up with your opinion. It does not really matter what the Hill stands for. On this particular topic, they did not provide a complete context. The link I included does.

Notice that I mostly respond to your, typically, fabricated cut and paste jobs.

It's interesting though, that you continue to use Bill Clinton, as if she's her husband.

"Clinton Foundation memo reveals Bill and Hillary as partners in crime"

I'm just curious.....Do you really stand behind this woman after all she's done...or, is it just the opposition you are against? If it's the opposition, then I will understand.

Quite frankly, it's hard for anyone to understand your defense of Hillary.
A majority of the American people don't trust her. She's just not a lying politician, she's a congenital liar.

She's always in "Hot Water" even though you always say it's a witch hunt, yet the only thing that obama was accused of was his birth place.

If a witch hunt was in the making, don't you think obama would have had the same problems.

Then you get all bent out of shape because I call you a partisan...what would you call it?
Northwest · M
@lov2smile: Ever heard of the term, playing the ball, not the player? I am playing the ball, you're playing the player. Do you even know what this memo is about?
lov2smile · 36-40, F
Again, I don't get it....Is there ANYTHING that Hillary could do, that you make you realize, Hillary is in it for herself. She doesn't care about you or anyone else,
She doesn't care about the country....Because no matter what happens, she and her cronies have insulated themselves from the rest of us.
You can't be that blind....Are YOU?
Northwest · M
@lov2smile:
You can't be that blind....Are YOU?
Nearly every single post you've done, is either a fabrication, or is taken out of context. Examples, include your exploitative Benghazi post, where you showed a made up image of Ambassador Stevens, and claimed that he was raped and tortured for multiple hours, before being killed.

Then there's the fabrication that she killed Vince Foster. And that she attacked a rape victim. Or she chose to defend a rapist, and the list goes on.

I am not blind to the fact that she's a politician, and as such, she has skeletons in her closet. However, the email thing, is something that's been investigated by the FBI, and the Director made his findings clear. There was intentional wrongdoing on her part. It was a mistake, and she's not denying it.

Her agenda includes:

1. Staying the course in the Middle East. This means, creating alliances with local players, arming and supporting secular groups, not allowing arms or logistics to reach religious, as moderate as they may be, groups, and assist, using as few special ops soldiers as possible, the local players as they advance against ISIS. Other than that, let the chips fall where they may. It's crazy to get involved in Syrian politics. If the Russians want to do that, by all means. It will be a quagmire, worse than our Iraq's Quagmire.

2. Jobs: focus on where the world is going to be 10-30 years from now, spend money to train those with obsolete jobs, for the jobs of the future. This will take us from a space, where we're responding to what China throws our way, to a position of leadership. We now have the technology leadership, what we need to do, is translate this into downstream jobs.

3. Energy: Keep investing in renewable energy technologies, reduce reliance on fossil fuels. This is both a way to generate jobs, and preserve the planet for the next generations.

4. Education: make education free for all, in public universities. This is an investment in our future, and reduces our reliance on foreign skilled labor.

5. Healthcare: Evolve Obamacare into a single payer system, with checks and balances to guarantee that the free for all, medical costs system, is brought back under control. If Physicians don't like it, they can go to Canada and Europe. Wait, they can't really do that, as they have the same system over there as well.

6. Taxes: Increase the tax rate on the top 1%. When America had a surplus, and public education was well funded, the top tax rate was in the 90%+. Trickle down economics, produced a deficit, and started the trend that led to the huge gap, between those who have it and those who do not. California is a simple example, showing that if you raise corporate taxes, companies are NOT going to go anywhere. Where will they go? China? Europe? South America?

7. Immigration: Build bridges, not walls.

What's Trump offering:

1. In the Middle East: join the Russian/Syrian/Iranian quagmire. Not a great idea. The situation is very complex, and Trump has no clue. He says he's got a secret plan. Well, if he really does have a plan that works, why hasn't he shared it with the top brass? As it stands, our troops are in danger's way, and his "secret" plan could save lives. Why isn't he sharing it? the simple answer is: he's got nothing. His "pay us and we'll support you" plan, is not realistic, and turns us into a mercenary nation.

2. Jobs: He says he's got a plan. No one knows what the plan is. Shutting down our borders, will hit the agriculture and services industries. US workers, who lost their jobs during the Bush economic collapse, do not want these jobs. Manufacturing jobs, are not coming back. NAFTA or not. Tariffs will not improve the situation. They will only significantly increase the price we pay for appliances (as an example). Solving the problem, involves advancing the state of the art, and reducing labor costs, as in automation and retraining of workers.

3. Energy: Drill, drill, drill, kill workers in the industry and further pollute the air the next generations will breathe. This is the only thing his supporters know.

4. Education: he has no plan.

5. Healthcare: kill Obamacare. Vague, esoteric plans on what will replace it. What's clear, is that he's got no clue, as evidenced by the statement he made, about 90% of his workers complaining about Obamacare. Hint: if he's providing insurance, like most employers do, his employers should not be using Obamacare. Is it "hyperbole", or ignorance? you decide.

6. Taxes: his plan will put the burden on lower income Americans. Eliminating the estate tax, will help people in his income range, not the middle class to low income taxpayer. I am hoping the people voting for him understand what it means. OK, I will understand what it means: starting in 2012, with $5M, adjusted for inflation, this is your estate tax exemption. This means that if you have a NET estate of $5M or less, you're already not paying taxes on it. How many in the low to middle class, have this kind of net estate? The way Trump puts it, you'd think that everyone, today, is paying estate taxes.

7. Immigration: Build a wall, and make Mexico pay for it. The first problem with this plan, is that he would need to import workers from Mexico to build the wall. The second is that Mexico is NOT going to pay for it. The third, is that it's not going to solve any problems, as those crossing illegally, are NOT taking American jobs. This is also not going to be a deterrent for those intending on harming us. Also, prevent Muslims from coming in, and "registers" American Muslims. He should read the Constitution.

[big]Liberalism=Socialism=Communism[/big].

Unfortunately, too many people like you are either too blinded to see the truth or are not smart enough to realize the main stream media is a fraud.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, that says NBC and Newsweek are not liberal outlets, just doesn't live in the real world.
Northwest · M
@lov2smile: "are not smart enough to realize the main stream media is a fraud."

So, you're saying I am stupid. Thank you, but you assume facts not in evidence. However, this coming from someone, who has only came up with an opinion once (in all our exchanges), and it was a lie, and who, for the most part, simply copies and pastes other people's, fabricated, opinions, proves that your opinions, are well, not worth a damn.

NBC and Newsweek report the news as is. When they expose a right wing nut, they are labeled liberal. When they expose Bill Clinton, they are part of the right wing conspiracy (yes, Hillary Clinton said that).
lov2smile · 36-40, F
@Northwest:

It's only false and a lie when you disagree with it.

"NBC and Newsweek report the news as is. When they expose a right wing nut, they are labeled liberal. When they expose Bill Clinton, they are part of the right wing conspiracy (yes, Hillary Clinton said that)."

Oh my gosh....Hillary said that...It must be true.

You don't honestly believe the stuff you write, do you?

Look, Ive said it before and I'll say it again.
If you are honest with yourself, people will respect you for it.

Just admit....Hillary is a crook, a thief, a liar and more, but you will vote for her because you believe she will govern in the manner you think is best for the country.

If you can say that, then, people will at least respect your honesty. When you defend her actions...You are a fool.
Northwest · M
@lov2smile: "It's only false and a lie when you disagree with it."

You're talking about yourself, right?

The teenage pregnancy rate, is at its lowest, in modern times, but you said that "in fact" it is at its highest. Why? because facts don't support your prejudices, so you make stuff up.

Hillary is a politician and she should not have gotten her own email server, but the FBI has already said, that it's not criminal.

You want to believe she killed Vince Foster, I say this is insanity. It may be OK for the National Enquirer, but not for anyone with a functional brain.

As a politician, for decades, she probably did some things, that she's lying about today, but nothing outside of the Normal Curve of career political behavior.

How do I know? Because Ken Starr and a Republican Congress, spent years investigating her, and found nothing. The Republican speaker of the House, cleared her as well.

What I do have against her, is that she did not dump Bill, three decades ago. That's the type of behavior, that enables the Bill Clinton's of the world, to continue to abuse women. Having said that, I also realize it's complicated, and women, even as powerful as Hillary, choose to stay with the cheating assholes they're married to, because the world around them, is not designed to support their choices.

I mean look at you. You, and I am assuming you're a woman, say that you're voting for Trump, because his values closely represent yours. Do you have no shame, supporting a guy, who thinks it's OK to brag about sexual assault, and reducing women to sexual objects?

The backlash from the Clinton cheating, not all that other conspiracy theories stuff, is what convinced me to vote for Bush.

I gave a long, point by point comparison, of Clinton vs Trump positions. If you have any questions, as to why I am voting for Hillary, re-read it.
lov2smile · 36-40, F
NW,

URIKA!! Finally you admit it.

Gosh, it's been like pulling teeth with you. You just refuse to admit it. I've been saying this all along....But you just didn't get it.

Well now you do.

You are voting for Hillary because of the way she will govern, you are in favor of big, big, bigger government, (socialism/communism)

BTW.

FREE healthcare and FREE education is NOT FREE.
Northwest · M
@lov2smile:

1. It's Eureka not Urika.

2. Not only did you misspell it, but you completely missed my points.

I am not surprised (on both counts).

But I will agree with the first part of your erroneous (in whole) statement "You are voting for Hillary because of the way she will govern"

Why would I vote for her for anything else?

It's not like I am voting for someone, just because he's a white, sexist, bigoted, and xenophobe male.
lov2smile · 36-40, F
I've asked you to admit that numerous times and you have avoided it.
So what brings you around now?

Is it because you are embarrassed of your previous defense of Saint Hillary?
Northwest · M
@lov2smile: I have no idea what you think you made me admit. Based on your position, with Trump's values, mostly resembling yours, I can only assume that, like him, you fabricate stuff. Kind of like, when he said that he forced the President to release his long birth form, or when he said that Hillary invented Birthism, or when his campaign manager, claims that people who claim that Hillary won the first debate, were watching another debate.

Based on your entire history of lying, and inventing here, I will take this as yet another one of your lies and inventions.
