Smaller every year. I'm old now and my friends are all dying, men first of course. It's just not possible to replace long time friends, although magazine and Internet articles tell me all I need to do is join a bridge club or something like that. I'm slowly and painfully adjusting to loneliness. Like the misery of arthritis and incontinence, it seems to be a built in part of old age.
