Is humanity ready to make contact with aliens? Why or why not?

It would not surprise me to find that contact has been made already, and some ET’s are pulling the global strings of power.

@Carissimi I think it's quite likely we've been contacted. But if there are some ETs pulling the global strings of power, I don't think they would be pulling them in the directions they're being pulled. I would think, if they had any interest, at all, their interest would be in the direction of helping humanity, not hindering it, as those in power are doing.

@Carissimi They're intentions could be as diverse as the universe, itself. I just don't see why they would bother with this little, piddly, polluted planet for any other reason. Unless, they're just looking for a fixer-upper.
