I Love My Son

Last night it was my turn to tuck in my six year old boy. I usually climb in bed with him for 5 or 10 minutes and talk about whatever comes to mind, and we spend time snuggling. But last night I was a little distracted, as I had some things I wanted to get done before I went to bed, so I just casually leaned over him for a quick hug and kiss. "Mom, aren't you gonna snuggle me in bed tonight?" I gave him another big hug and said "there you go Bug." He put the big puppy dog eyes on and said "but mom if you lay down with me I can curl into you better." Oh, man I can't resist that. "You know the way to momma's heart, don't you?" I say. He just laughs, and I climb into bed with with him for a good ten minutes. Why did I think anything else could be more important?

You take it in turns, why is that?

My husband and I take turns tucking in our son. Usually the one not doing the tucking in is cleaning up the kitchen or doing other things. We just like having the alone time with our son in that way--but sometimes we do both tuck him in.

@Peekatyou: Do you stick to the same routine?

@Aprism: Yes, almost always, but there are times when we don't because we want to be flexible and also show our son that it's ok to be flexible and change things up sometimes.

@Peekatyou: Do you find it difficult being a parent of a 6 year old boy in your 40's?
Peekatyou · 46-50, F
@Aprism: Hmmm no. I don't particularly like being the "old parent" tho. Lol. We tried for a lot of years to get pregnant and it finally happened--I don't care much about my age at this point for that reason. We tried for a second, and when I turned 40 I said "no way!" 😜

@Peekatyou: How old were you when you had your Son?
Peekatyou · 46-50, F
@Aprism: 36. Why all the questions?

I am weighing up the pro's and con's of having children later in life. I have a career and dog to think about, your story was compelling.

@Aprism: I see. Well, A lot of women nowadays are having kids later in life. If you're older, then you've already had a lot of years for your career, i suspect. Time will run out on the ability to have kids--don't regret it. 💜

@Peekatyou: I can't have children, I had a tummy tuck and it would ruin my figure. I want to adopt when I am about 35. Thanks for the inspiration.
Peekatyou · 46-50, F
@Aprism: Oh, that's great! A lot of kids need loving homes to enter into. Keep in mind, the adoption process can take a long time, so you may want to start checking into it well before you turn 35. Good luck!
