I Am A Humanist

I am a Christian and a Humanist. In other words I believe in a world without presuming the existence of a god but I also believe that the teachings of Jesus set out a philosophy of life and ethical values that I have chosen as a guide for my life.

For those for whom belief in a god is not possible. that is a way to live ethically and responsibly. It is an arbitrary choice, as is any ethical choice, but it is the one I have made.

I am tired of hearing fundamentalist Christians say such nonsense that there cannot be any human values without accepting the idea of a god, and that their way is the only way. Why they are unwilling to say that their view is a choice, just as my view is a choice, is what makes their view unpalatable to me and many.

If anyone cares about that idea, try my website: www.christianhumanist.net

Interesting. Yet how does one follow the teachings of Jesus while rejecting everything he believed in regards to God? Reciprocity is a good concept that kind of reflects his mind set, yet even this idea cannot be strictly attributed to him. I just might take a look at your website to see what might be learned. I definitely don't believe in God, but is it necessary to even mention Christianity?
