Have you ever been treated as if you are disposable?

I was in the army for 25 years and was 'disposable', that said nobody ever treated me that way. When I rose through the ranks I knew that we could be 'disposable' but my troops knew they were never 'disposable' to me or the Regiment. I think you have to venture a very long way up the food chain to not be disposable to someone.
