Another post nobody (or very few people) should even notice
It's been like 6 years now and I'm STILL mad about what they did to Warhammer Fantasy with the End Times, specifically the Khaine book because my favourite faction was always the high elves. Matt Ward's worst book, imo.
To summarise: Malekith is the third son of the first king of the High Elves. He tries going through the magical fire that marks all their kings as monarch but gets burnt so badly they have to seal him in a magical suit of armour to even keep him alive. He may or may not also be in an incestuous relationship with his mother (although this isn't relevant here, it's still the most interesting thing about him). During the End Times, the Dark Elves return to Ulthuan - the High Elf homeland - to conquer it, and due to contrived nonsense about wizards not warding him long enough to walk through the magic fire the first time, he successfully becomes the king. The king of the people he swore to extirpate. And a lot of them just go with it despite being taught from birth how evil Malekith is. This (along with the death of his daughter) drives Tyrion (a direct patro-lineal descendant of that first king's oldest son who should have been the king following the rules that got Malekith "crowned") mad and he draws the evil magical sword which they never just destroyed for some reason? And then Ulthuan sinks amidst an idiotic civil war then the world implodes.
