I'm Just Saying

I’m so over my ‘extra feminist/left’ friends being anti-relationship/anti-marriage as some bipolar response to trappings of circa 1950’s. It’s not that I have any opinions on how they should live, but when they give me that “I’m a strong-independent-woman-who-don’t-need-no-man or really anyone for that matter, and think I’m superior to those pitiful souls who want a meaningful partnership“ look of disgust just for acknowledging that I don’t ‘like’ (heaven forbid) being single I kinda wanna smack that pretentiousness right off their smug, lil face. Like yeah man, your fear of commitment, intimacy, trust issues, emotional disconnect, sleeping around to medicate, and masochistic ‘independence’ of suffering, exhaustion, and floundering is definitely better than all those humanoids who value the concept of a meaningful relationship, and combining efforts. 😑. Humans are hardwired to be social creatures. Cooperative teamwork is a better use of time, energy, and resources. STFU

I don't recognize or follow the feminist party of today. I am opposed to the often insane things that come from their mouths, let alone the sometimes reprehensible actions in the name of tolerance. The early suffragists would be appalled by many of these women.

@ravenwind43 it’s a complicated issue to unpack, so I won’t write a novel here about it lol.. suffice it to say, I disagree with certain, “throw the baby out with the bathwater “attitudes, and creating chaos just for chaos’s sake. Neither are effective.

I agree with you, except by saying, true feminism as a human´s right movement is not against men nor relationships.
The one that you commented and quoted was an is a social minority.

@CharlieZ well, I did make a point to emphasize that these people I’m thinking of are ‘extra’, not representative of people who have more reasonable perspectives. I just happen to live in an extremely leftist area so there’s an abundance of people who have extreme, ‘counterculture just for the sake of it” views

@SW-User On the importance of human social bonds and specially on loving relationships, I fully agree with you.

@Greybare it’s weird. When I was younger I used to be la vie Boheme. These days I’m kind of over my experimental phase, and just want to live a chill life, but where I live that’s surprisingly difficult because there is such an aversion to anything that resembles mainstream culture. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Greybare Im just not a fan of in group out group bias that goes on, and the need to feel superior in order to justify one’s own existence. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m a little more critical of where I live though simply because they posture themselves as being more about tolerance/diversity etc than they actually are, and the hypocrisy bugs me. Lol.. Regardless, if I had to choose I’d rather be where I live getting shit for not going to Burning Man and wanting a ‘cliche’ monogamous relationship than live somewhere else more conservative where my desire for new friends less ‘anti everything mainstream’ also includes too high a populous that rationalizes homophobia/ racism / sexism etc.
