Awesome surprise.

My wife bought me an interesting book for the library. The ultimate survival medicine guide. Emergency preparedness for any disaster written by Joseph Alton,MD and Amy Alton,ARNP I especially love the section in the back which is over the counter alternatives to prescription meds. “Fish Mox” supposedly can be bought at animal supply stores and is the antibiotic amoxicillin

VERY interesting! I own the Complete Medicinal Herbal by Penelope Ody, which contains old herbal lore...such as creating poultices, teas, tinctures, and so on. All very fascinating stuff!

@4meAndyou it is very interesting. My great grandmother believed in homeopathic herbal cures every time I would visit she would make a “tea” of pine needles, dandelion, and lemon.

@Powderflask I know that young dandelion leaves...(only the youngest of them in Spring)...are an edible green. I had a neighbor who once prepared Dandelion Greens Parmesan for me. Dandelion is used in tea to treat liver disorders, and to cleanse the liver of toxins. Lemon is used to treat nerve pain, and neuralgia.

Your reference to pine needles had me searching through my book and I didn't find them until I searched the search engines on my browser.

They were used once to make a tea by Indigenous peoples in North America, and the tea was a natural decongestant. Only white pine should be used, as other types of pine may be toxic. Eastern white cedar can be substituted.

Granny was giving you a detox tea.

@4meAndyou makes sense, she swore up and down that my long list of prescriptions was not good for me.

@SW-User agreed, wasn’t planning to take them like vitamins👍 This post was mostly about how preppers like to have alternative supplies as opposed to the regulated mainstream
