I Think God Saved Me

My other post on here got so many positive answers. I started thinking about another time God saved me. So here it is...

I was walking back to my grandma's with my little brother. I was living with her as I was otherwise homeless and jobless at 18. I was raising my Little brother who was in eschooling. We had no internet, so we just got done spending the day at the library. I was tired and stressed beyond understanding. Well we got to right across the street and must of went to cross the street. The next thing I know I woke up to a male paramedic.

He said "sweetheart do you remember what happened?" I just said "no, who are you?" He responded gently "I'm a paramedic. You were hit by a van crossing the road. Now can you answer a few questions?" I said "I don't know."

Well he proceeded to ask me my name, age, address (this I could not remember but I pointed to it.) And then he got to questions I was clueless on. These questions included the current president, the day of the week and the month. After verifying these things, by this time he had cut off my pants, coat and shirt, he told me we were headed to the hospital and him and someone else lifted me on to the stretcher.

At the hospital trauma unit they ran all kinds of test but could not find out why I was unable to remain conscious over ten minutes. I woke up next to them telling me that I could say a few words to my brother, I'd been asking about him in my moments awake, then I would be airlifted to another hospital.

I got to tell him I loved him and ask his doctor how he was. I got a quick answer of "not nearly as bad as you are. He will be going home today. You saved him." I would later learn I had shoved him and took most of the hit myself. My airmedic then said "we really got to get going." And I was rolled to the run where the helicopter was waiting. I then went unconscious again.

I awoke in the helicopter briefly and he told me we where flying and almost at the hospital. Scared of heights I started screaming but passed out again. The next time I awoke I was in the capital's hospital.

When I woke up I could hear doctor chatter. I also saw a crime scene investigator taking pictures of my face "just in case" she had said. I must of passed out yet again, as the next waking memory is that of a doctor talking with a nurse who was taking my vitals. I was scared but was assured all was normal. Test still showed no problems but I did have a broken leg.

Though doctors never found out the reason I could not stay conscious, and predicted I'd never walk again... I still lived and by God's grace I have full function of my legs. I am not as fast as I used to be, when I ran track and field but not nearly as slow as after the accident. I have actually lived to be hit by several other vehicles though none near as severe as this.
You were surely blessed that day. ✝
