I Have Lost a Sibling

My mother, who is now 84 went into the hospital to give birth. She was in labour for a long time and I believe they gave her something to "knock her out" anyway she woke up to a nurse offering her a cup of tea, this was in England. She said I would just like to see my baby. The nurse simply replied; " oh I'm sorry he died." No counselling no help nothing. To make matters worse my parents were unable to give my brother a proper funeral, because he died before he could be baptized. He was buried in an unmarked grave, with just a number to mark his final resting place.

That happened to my mother too. My sister's remains were later moved very late at night by my grandfather who reburied her very late at night in the grave of another family member. But I think the larger point is that God knows the real truth of things and that your mom will see your brother come the end

Sorry, I didn't use very good punctuation and grammar.

How so very sad. We are all absolutely equal in death.

My living will says that I am to be cremated and only my close friends know what to do with my ashes. Just like there are rules about burials, there are also laws about where you can and can't dispose of humans ashes. Hint: but there are no police agencies to enforce those laws.

My mom had a nervous breakdown shortly after, but my parents were able to plant a tree of remeberance at the national arbouritum in England. After my father had three heart attacks ten years ago. He was able to get a grave marker. He fought the powers that be.

Sorry to hear that. At first I thought she was giving birth at 84. Remarkable woman those Brits.

:'( There have been _some_ improvements in "bedside manner" since then at least...

Well, The Church could have done more to give comfort and solace to your family.

I cannot believe a society could be that heartless!

Thank you Bob, it was a terrible thing.

Well it was a different time. And a country ruled by the church, as in they had the say as to who could receive a "proper" burial.
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
@Mouse: that is terrible! How horrible for your family.
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
That has to be a constant struggle to get through.
