In the shoes of another.

Imagine...

You are on a cruise ship, you came on late so had no interaction with anyone.
when you wake, you walk down the deck to find the breakfast. You stop a fellow, in uniform, with a name plate that says Hello! can I Help you?

"Excuse me where can I find breakfast ?"
" I'm the ticket man!" he says proudly
"Excellent, can you tell me where I can get breakfast?"
"I'm the ticket man!" his face beams but does look a bit vacant.
" Yes, you said that, where is the restaurant?"

he looks perplexed, maybe irritated
"TICKET MAN TICKET MAN TICKET MAN!" he shakes his head and walks away.

You wander, and find the breakfast area, hit the self serve coffee. Seeing no
counter, you sit at a table and wait. 5 minutes, then 10. then you see all the tables are being cleared away.
"Excuse me?" you ask the busser, "can you get someone to take my order?"
"Hmm? eyes up, oddly vacant. "I clear the tables"
"yes, can you find me some assistance?"
"I clear the tables. That's my job i clear the tables"

I see and flag down a waiter. excuse me?!
"Hi!" waiter stands there.
"Um can i get some breakfast?"
"oh, no sir, that's all over, lunch is at Noon" he points to a clock on the wall. next to it is a picture of a clock, with the hands indicating noon
"when those look the same you can get food" walks off.
this keeps happening, they all LOOK fine, if vacant, but no one is really knowledgeable about anything.
Even when i take a walk to the bridge of the ship.
"I'm driving the boat!" say one fellow, making rubbery motor noises with his lips. the wheel is swinging wildly, but the boat stay on course.

Everyone On this ship, is like this. minimal communication, no information, happy and vacant. truly a ship of fools

still here?

This is what it is like for people of above average intelligence. You are often alone, surrounded by throngs of self satisfied seekers of the next thing, people that say words without understanding what they mean, they Think they do, but it's like a parrot or small child, repeating.
Even those " in charge" are clearly stupid

This is why smart people are often depressed.
you must watch while the ignorant make crushing mistakes, while the overblown leadership act like it knows what it is doing, worse, they BELIEVE they know what they are doing like that guy "driving the boat"/

You get lonely for those able to converse at length, discussion without conflict.

So too smart for you own good? more like Too smart for your own peace of mind.

Interesting food for thought if one's OK with introspection.
Really · 80-89, M
@SatyrService Quite right. Introspection can be both rewarding and punishing. Just as some aspects of my personality can represent both my most and my least useful abilities.
@Really I, Happily, can hold mutually contradictory things in my head at the same time.

It has been usefull, if sometimes irritating

Nice to talk with a grown up these days. tho I worry some of our contemporaries are sometimes a bit Buggy

@SatyrService
I, Happily, can hold mutually contradictory things in my head at the same time.
I too, and I can even find comfort in knowing that I'll never solve the problem. (What problem?)

My comfort does not stem from an understanding of quantum physics. I don't have any such understanding.

@Aikarini How nice to hear from you dear..

America "education" has devolved into an indoctrination to be good consuming sheeple .
Qne can still get an education here, but we turned away from excellence as a trait to be admired starting back n the 70's. Cool was now seen as better than smart.
And it worked, we went from one of the most productive nations on earth with the average worker being able to care for his family. to a nation of gullible consumption engines

this cruise ship , that i walk thru far too often, is not the only way things are. I recently returned from a contract job. It was full of educated and/or experienced articulate, creative people of every color, creed and kind. When i return from such places places, I am discomforted, by the return to the world of the vapid, the empty eyes, the unquenchable thirst for they know not what

consider this fiction excerpt, it is pretty accurate about what we were. ( atrocities and skulduggery admittedly omitted)
We stood up for what was right! We fought for moral reasons, we passed and struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbors, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chest. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe, cured diseases, and cultivated the world's greatest artists and the world's greatest economy. We reached for the stars, and we acted like men. [c=BF0000]We aspired to intelligence; we didn't belittle it[[/c]/b]; it didn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn't scare so easy. And we were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed.
Here, it is like the end of the roman empire, and some uf us are hording books and hunkering down for the coming sleet storm

It's very depressing and distressing. I don't have much hope for mankind anymore. Most are motivated by $ and power and are never enlightened.

@SatyrService Pray tell. Birdie
@GrinNude a short and useful thing.
not very exciting. but no the only thing.
Community has been part of humanity, all our history, but we have lost i,t replaced by money culture, by fake connectivity, and by the isolation the result of centuries of social oppression

you MUST FIND those, like yourself, a Deliberate act, Intentional community , seek others that are ,, in this case "not Stupid" pick one something you really like, and find others who are doing the same. it is not easy we have lost , many of us the , the easy ways of joining with others.

I am part of lets call it a half dozen, communities, each with some common focus , and make it a priority to spent time with these peoples, to work together on common interests,, to look out for each other, in times of trouble.

service to others, and "belonging" in a tribe, can greatly increase our meaningful happiness. Satisfaction, the real thing is most often a shared experience.
GrinNude · 61-69, C
@SatyrService I can deeply relate to this. We are social beings. And we live way too isolated. For 99.9% of the time we inhabited this planet, we were tribal hunter-gathers. We need deep personal connections and interactions. I have my tribes also.

I feel like human intellect and desire to be logical have led me to make some very poor decisions. I’ve found that following my intuition gives me more balance and peace in life. Very dynamic writing!
@SubtropicalSharlana thank you so much, I really struggle to have understanding

It is pretty depressing. I'm starting to not feel real. I feel robbed of precious life because I can't be myself and exist.
@AlchemyFox you can, YOU can be who you really are, AND exist i been doing it a long time

what you must endure is knowing that most of the people in the world around you, will not be of high quality . if you MUST be liked by the stupid, and ordinary,, then you are settling for less trading off Quality in favor of number
If instead, you are picky,, choosing Only those that treat you well it will take time
but i assure you it is Very worth it.
I'd rather have a few excellent friends,, that GET ME
than a mass of those of low quality

this is why it seem depressing,, there are so MANY of the unworthy
and so Few of the Fine
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA😆😅🤣😂

I'm dying !!!!....this is so true !

Ahhhh....still laughing 😂

You kinda learn to just keep your mouth shut....its too exhausting otherwise.

Hehe...this is good 😄
@OogieBoogie Thanks Pie!
