You've got class. My dad tried playing clarinet, had me taking lessons at 5 or 6. You know what that means new reeds twice a lesson. In 6th grade the high school my elementary fed into (Catholic) tried to start a prep band or something after the lecture everyone ran to the drink line then the sax line and I don't run so fast and the guy in charge talked me into taking the flute. In my neighborhood the flute was uncool I thought. Then I went home turned on American bandstand and Jethro Tull was the featured band, Ian Anderson standing there on one leg... I thought hmm cool. The was 6th grade maybe but then he came back to Kentucky and it seems his new wife bought him a set of Gretsch drums and I took drum lessons got a band together and played horribly at the rec center (projects) for a whopping $1.25 every Friday. We had about 23 songs were knew most the chords to and some of the words. But that's alright the singer was terrible too but we were afraid to fire him. He was pretty tough.
PS the old man played in a few jazz bands said he made hamburger and Coke money off the drums. Not sure which Coke he meant pot was still a federal offense good for 2 to 10 years. It was 1966 when I got the drums. Thanks for the memory i still had them.
