Israel Palestine conflict

I think that there should be a two state solution. War isn't the answer as it only brings the destruction and loss of innocent lives. I hope Israel & Palestine would strive for peace. I support Palestine & I hope Israel will consider the basic human rights for palestinian as well. Palestine should be free !

There are so many parallels with the troubles in Northern Ireland. There was no chance of peace until the Republic effectively renounced any claims to Ulster and the IRA/Sinn Fein gave up their guns in favour of the ballot box. Until Hamas quit firing rockets into Israel from tower blocks inhabited by families with young children there will be no chance of peace.

@ArtieKat But 66 Palestinian children were killed by Israel. Two Israeli children died. One is too many but numbers don't lie. And Israel has made that claim before and it was denounced as a lie.

@Ynotisay It's a sad fact that Hamas undoubtedly use the Palestinian kids as human shields. I agree that innocent kids, particularly, should not die.

@ArtieKat I'm not sure you can say that with 100% accuracy but, even if that was the case, Israel didn't care, right?

@Ynotisay I consider myself to be a pacifist and I wholeheartedly wish there were no wars anywhere in the world. I think the filmed news reports from Gaza, after targeted bombing, which show the network of tunnels running up to the border with Israel show where my information is coming from. I don't know how old you are but I spent a day in Gaza City in the spring of 1973, a couple of months before the 2nd Middle-eastern war. War leads to innocent deaths. Until Hamas renounce warfare there is not the slightest chance that Israel will not retaliate - there's no such thing in a situation like this of a "proportionate response".

@Ynotisay Why did you edit your post and change it to:
And Israel has made that claim before and it was denounced as a lie.
@ArtieKat So Israel is the blameless nation? They don't really have a far right extremist leader doing whatever he can to stay in power which, clearly, means having enemies? Israel doesn't want peace. They never have. And personally as an American, I'm sick of us propping them up with big money and military. We give more to them than we do any other country and it's all about financing conflict. Israel does nothing in return. Number of troops to assist the U.S. in the wars with Afghanistan and Iraq? That would be zero. It's a one way street and I hope every "real American" out there screaming about the U.S. taking care of itself first wakes up to that.

@Ynotisay I have never said Israel is blameless. I like to think I'm even-handed but you're talking crap, I'm afraid. I liked the sneakiness of editing the post AFTER I had replied - you should be a politician! 🤣

@ArtieKat I added it because it crossed my mind. Is that ok with you? If that's your big concern then let's cut it out.
But 66 Palestinian children were killed by Israel. Two Israeli children died. One is too many but numbers don't lie.
Any issue with sticking with that fact?
Screw Israel.
