I Have An Annoying Friend

What's the nicest way to tell a friend they're annoying you? You still like them and want to be friends and all, but let's just say they're always trying too hard and it's kinda getting on your nerves. Everyone has a friend who's been like that at some point, right? 😅

@Dusty101 Me too. But I always tell my friends to let me know if I am, even if it may come off mean that it won’t hurt my feelings. And it won’t. I know I can be unintentionally abrasive at times. 😬

Hence why I have not got close with people in rl and it suits me fine!
Happy out with being the boss of who I want to hang with. I just don't get close anymore. It hurts too much.

This post strikes a nerve. I'm trying not to take it personally, but I'm not sure that's possible.

I've always waited for a true friend. Instead of someone who was just taking advantage of spending time with me because it was convenient for them, because they actually wanted something from me, or I was their last choice, or they were just bored and don't really appreciate my company. How many times have I left the room and they were relieved? Cut me loose already, so I don't waste any more time on you.

@lovelywarpedlemon I hope you don't mean taking this personally in the sense that it was directed at you. I barely know you but even if we were friends, you've never done anything to annoy me.

I feel the same way about what you said too, I'd rather someone tell me to get lost if they don't care for me anymore.

Be honest and distance yourself if you need to. Tell them you need them to tone it down. If they are a true friend they’ll reel it in.

I think most of us have...and I think most of us have been at times. I'd like to be told discreetly that I"m getting to be a bit too much...and I'd do that for a friend who is getting annoying.
