I Am Afraid Of Relationships

Love is a very different thing than lust.
How can I tell the difference?

I think you'll know. It may take time, but you'll know. It's constantly wanting to be around them. It's not just wanting to be sexual. It's wanting to have them close, to make them laugh when they're sad, to wipe away the it tears, to never let them down. It's feeling a deep connection to someone. Lust is wanting someone's body. It's wanting them in a sexual way, not in a respectful way, for a lack of words. When you're in love, you're happy if they're happy, even if you've had a bad day. It's something that just makes you feel good and makes you want the other person to feel good, not by how you can please them or touch them or anything like that, but by how you can see their smile more and how you can make their worst days better. I think you'll know when you're finally in love, and it's not just lust.

If you are in love, then you will do anything to make the other person happy and cared for, even if it is at your own expense. You will willingly sacrifice your own well-being, security, and comfort to ensure that the other person is taken care of. If they love you back, then they shall do the same.

Lust is defined by almost the exact opposite qualities - you only care for the other person in a superficial manner. You just want them for their physical aspects; to satisfy your selfish desires. In a short description:

Love = you see yourself as an extension of the other person.

Lust = you see the other person as an extension of yourself.

This is just my understanding, though.
