I Hate the World We Live In
I wonder if there's a single company on Earth, big or small, that puts even a tiny bit of effort into trying to act ethically. Like, any company of more than say 10 people where a single person in a position of power chooses the slightly less convenient path because it's the right thing to do.
But shit like that is fairy tales - we're not the kind of species that will ever let that happen. The few idiots who try it with their companies will get burned to the ground from lack of business, because we're not the kind of species who'll ever put any real effort into supporting it. Hell, we're too blind and stupid to even recognize the difference between real ethics and good PR. No, you know what, it's worse than that - we actually look MORE favorably at the one with good PR but no real ethics, because a carefully crafted, perfect looking smokescreen will always look prettier than even the most ethical reality.
We're a garbage species who only look ethical when compared to who we used to be when we were an even *more* garbage species. We can't group together in any real numbers without becoming narcissistic and self-serving, throwing away any sense of personal responsibility, and then we follow the will of those ugly groups like sheep.
