I Am a Hunter

Growing up , remembering my first dove hunt at eight years old , on the High line canal in Brawley CA two weeks after graduating the NRA Youth Safety Course with 99/100 ..Id never have dreamed I'd grow to have as much passion for the sport as I do now.

I have taken Deer Turkey Quail Dove Duck Alligator Antelope and all types of small game. And do so every year.

I still plan to pursue :

Elk

A Kodiak Brown Bear

Bighorn Sheep

And my Dream Hunt ...An African Lion on an "Old World style" Big game hunt. With boar bait and native guide. No protected jeep hunts here.

For me it's not only about the meat and trophies. Its a truly spiritual experience going back to a time long gone. When men were pure and nature was untamed. Its the last good thing on an ever shrinking earth.

I think my Dad ...wherever he is in heaven would be very proud.

I too hunt, moslty upland bird and turkey but have taken mule dear and columba black tail Elk( roosevelt) I still use grand dads old springfield..tried and true
and tried for Pronghorn.
ever use a bow?

@Amylynne Haven't done antelope yet. Not ideal for them here in the south. Although I have a 7mm rem mag built for long open shots. I hunt game with bow crossbow shotgun and rifle.

@Spartan1 yeah that pronghorn is a VERY long open shot. they can see a rifle at a mile away, and run like twice as fast as any wild horse. there is good space for that from northern NV to eastern washington.
never used a cross bow for game but when i was like17 i did take a Black tail with One shot from a 45 lb bow.
( I cheated, used a tree stand about six feet away)

@Amylynne Down here tree stands and ground blinds. Although one doe I took at very close range. Full Turkey camo. Standing next to a tree. Just to see if I could.

@Spartan1 we have an ENOURMOUS range of terrain and conditions in cascadia, desert to wet forest, 3 kinds of mountains rivers and caves and the entire beach is public property great to surf cast

yeah,, i am often the squeeky clean city girl, BUT i have my country life, if nothing else to go riding. not got to be at home, beach OR ranch this year
