Were you close to your father?

I only ask because I never was, and when he passed away several years ago I had to make peace with the fact that we never had a relationship, which was tough. Being a father myself, I have a very solid relationship with my own son, which I'm very thankful for.

I can relate to you.

At one time I was close to my dad. He was my whole world when I was a kid. But sadly, he changed after my mother left. I think he really was never up for the challenge of being a full time dad.

I do know he had a good heart and did the best he knew how. I miss him and I do forgive him for all the times he wasn't there for me. It took me a while to get there though.

I too work all the harder to be a better parent than what I had. It's all I can do.
