I Am Proud of Myself
As you are possibly aware I am a recovering alcoholic. And with the exception of one minor blip last week I've been sober since October 1st.
That date is significant as it is also the day I started my first ever job. I am a shop floor assistant in a supermarket. The store manager is aware of my drink problem and agreed to put me on chilled foods, cooked meats cheese, butter etc.
Today though we were short staffed and I was asked to work on wines and spirits. I was apprehensive but as I am still in my probationary period I agreed.
It wasn't going to be easy being surrounded by all that booze. But as it was busy the day went really quickly and despite craving a drink both during work and since I've been home I have resisted all temptation.
It may sound silly but I feel I've achieved something big in my battle with the bottle today.
