A single person making 3200.00 a month can’t get an apartment

My brother sailing the house. I have to get out. This is the third application I put in and 3rd time I was denied. I work 40hrs a week I can’t get a place to live. You have to have income 3 1/2 times of the rent. That’s 5350.00 a month and 63,000.00 a year. If I was making that I would buy a house.

Another twist to the cost of housing issue is that the tax system now seriously favors renting vs home ownership. With the higher standard deductions, mortgage interests and real estate taxes no longer give us an income tax advantage. Meanwhile, the landlord can expense everything: maintenance, interest, taxes, depreciation, etc.; resulting in lower rates for rent when compared to the cost of home ownership.

@Heartlander How much of your day do you spend thinking about taxes?

Very little. But I do pay attention to economics and housing issues, and taxes are a big part of the housing issue.
