I Am Writing a Novel

@Pfuzylogic My writings usually start off organically, but somewhere along the way I tend to get stuck because I haven't exactly made a concept for the story and all of the sudden it has to start making sense ;p

@kimmy159 as long as it feels like home while you do it I wouldn’t worry.
I finished 20,000 words yesterday and still feeling good about the direction of mine. I have volunteers to read it but I’m not sure how I’m going to proceed. It is very topical including AI, Robots and Paris one of my very favorite places to visit. I did go to Belgium once for lace and chocolates! 😁

@Pfuzylogic It sounds like an interesting concept :D And wow, 20,000 words in 1 day is impressive :D It's been a while since I've made that much progress ;p Send some inspirational vibes my way if you'd be so kind ;p

Lace and chocolates, now those are fine things to bring from a trip ^^

Let me backtrack just a little. The most I have written in one day is 1500 words.
I have averaged about 900 per day. 20000 has been over two weeks. I understand Stephen King writes 13 pages each day and at 400 words per page that is a lot. So are you writing fiction or non fiction?

@Pfuzylogic I'm writing fiction ^^ It's a story that started forming in my mind when I was in my early teenage years, but then I only imagined fragments of seperate situations that would happen, and never tried to turn it into a real story. It's difficult to find a storyline to fit in all situations and for it to make sense somehow ;p I like a combination of romance with action (it takes place in a world with superpowers where there is of course some kind of evil).

Did you publish some works before? I'm not sure if I will, it's been such a long project by now and I just enjoy writing whenever something comes up ^^

I have had 3 stages in my writing.
My first poem was published when I was 10. It was very fun.
I wrote from 18 to 21 when I was into the “New Wave”.
I was sought for my love poetry.
I just started writing recently and on my profile I have 30 works of prose and poetry. This is my first attempt at a large work and I am loving the flow!

@Pfuzylogic I also love writing poetry ^^ The only "problem" I sometimes have, is that English isn't my native language (not even an official language in Belgium) and sometimes I'm better off writing them in Dutch :D My English poems often tend to turn out very simplistic and sometimes on the edge of becoming something that anyone could easily write ;p After that, I'm not sure if I still like them as much haha ^^

One of my Dutch short poems got selected in a competition before, but I can't translate it to English since it looses all of its meaning :D

But overall, the passion to write is something very beautiful and often compelling, whether it gets published or not, I'm always happy to just write when I'm overlfowing with inspiration :D

Awesome!! I got a new friend.
I have jotted 400 words this past hour about the “Wand” that passes between my robotic dancers from “the hive”. My imagination is going wild and I really am writing about my absolute favorite city in the world , Paris.

I am so moved by Fine Art and writing is my medium. You have me intrigue by your poem and I totally agree with you that translations can gut the beauty of the work. I am pretty excited and what is fun is that taking the risk to write organically is really priming the creative mind!

@Pfuzylogic I agree, before I started writing the story, I thought about thinking out an entire concept with global lines, but then I thought it would take the fun out of the free writing and creativity.
I've noticed how hilarious and beautiful ideas can pop into your mind as you're writing, same with sudden plots in the story.
Mainly, I base my story on the "feel of the moment" a lot. You could say it's based on my current thoughts / wishes that I can't express irl at the time (nothing too weird XD more like longing for someone to be there when no-one could be and then writing something innocently romantic for example).
It also means the story can go from very good to sudden plots, but I kind of like that about it too.
Therefore, I decided that writing a concept beforehand wouldn't be helpful ;p

What is so awesome about writing is that it is a very personal art and if ideas come to you spontaneously then you are doing it right. Let’s have fun with this and we can share together. I found my vision of who I am this past summer and am still working on my metaphors. I think the way our brain operates as we live is how we write and so finding our “voice” isn’t difficult as long as we are true to ourselves!

Why thank you. I have jotted about 1000 words today and creating an unnecessary crisis in my story but that is just how a fun Novel will go. I am so surprised how easy this was as if my mind was “pregnant” and I am simply delivering without any labor!
Don’t you just love my metaphors. 🤭
