I Poems

The City is howling by the streets
Lights of fear
Dance of clocks and machines
Bodies running to their fate
Steps hurrying into battle
The City is burning alive
I'm a torch trapped in my window
I'm a ghost
This is my limbo.
The voices are crows cawing in my head
They are pecking my thoughts
They want to gouge my eyes
They won't let me alone
Their name is Torture
They rule the night
As I rule my kingdom of ice.

As I come home the hedgerow is green,
But if I look over the top I see valley
And valley and valley disappearing
Into the distance
And the hedgerow changes
Colour
The green gives way to blue
As the bluebells fill the view
And the red campion
Fills the spaces in between
And I think of
What might be.
